rotation description
The "Intravenous Manual" is both a source of drug information and a policy and procedure document which governs the andministration and monitoring of parenteral drug therapy by Island Health staff and facilities. The IV manual was created by pharmacy and nursing staff at the Victoria General Hospital in the early to mid 1980s prior to the ammalgammation of the Victoria area hospitals into the the Greater Victoria Hospital Society (GVHS) in 1987. The IV manual was one of the first such created in Canada and was subsequently adapted by other Canadian hospitals in the years following.
This session takes place during the "General Orientation" week and will orient the resident to our IV manual and how it is used by our staff working in Island Health Facilities.
