A resident who has significant experience, skills or prior learning in the core competencies of the residency program or has already partially completed the requirements of another accredited residency program* can apply for credit for prior learning.
This allows the resident to individualize their program and maximize their learning
opportunities.
For example, a resident who has extensive experience working as a fully licensed pharmacist in a hospital or institutional setting may apply for credit for all or a portion of the Medication Use Systems rotation (drug distribution and sterile products).
To appy for credit for a rotation review the policy below , download the application form (MS Word Document) as well as the ROAD document of the rotation for which you are appying for credit. Fill out the form and have the form signed by the supervisor you had while the experience took place. Ensure that your supervisor has reviewed the ROAD document as they are attesting that your experience aligns with the competentcies and educational outcomes of the rotation. Submit the completed for to the Residency Program Coordinator at least one month prior to the start of the program. See the full document below.
Medication Use Systems Rotation
If you are applying for credit specifically for the medication use systems rotation you will be sent a self assessment form via the one45 platform to complete prior to the start of the residency year. Using this form, you will indicate if you have met the learning goals, objectives and standards which would you would be required to meet if you had successfully completed this rotation in our program. (See sample one45 form at the bottom of this page)
If you have work experience as a fully licensed pharmacist in a hospital or institutional setting outside of a Health Authority in British Columbia or if your work experience within British Columbia is not as a Grade I Pharmacist within a health authority please include a detailed job description for your position.
