Abstract
There is currently no clear guideline on the management of vitamin D deficiency in hemodialysis patients. KDIGO guidelines suggest measuring 25(OH)D (calcidiol) levels in CKD G3a-G5D patients and treating according to the recommendations outlined for the general population. This is a grade 2C suggestion, based on low quality evidence. There is also no therapeutic target or range suggested. Vitamin D levels are ordered in Fraser Health (FH) on a case-by-case basis and current practice is unknown. The purpose of this study is to characterize the management of vitamin D levels in FH hemodialysis patients.
