Abstract
Timely analgesia in acute pain is an important goal for emergency medicine. A new triage process involving early pain score documentation and flagging of a weight and age based opioid protocol was implemented at two different hospitals. Using a 2019 audit as baseline, both hospitals significantly (p=0.001, p<0.001, respectively) reduced the time to opioid administration. Victoria General Hospital (VGH) improved by 1 hour and 8 minutes (45.6%) and Royal Jubilee Hospital (RJH) improved by 2 hours and 11 minutes (62.5%).
